Default West central Wisconsin conditions....

....will try to keep this active.

Snow is accumulating. However its a pretty light and dry snow. Trails open in a week so hopefully a few more inches will fall and will add some weight to it. I would say there is a solid 8 inches on the ground now and snowing pretty good yet as I type this.

I ride mainly Juneau county trails, but get into Sauk and Vernon a bunch too. Feel free to PM with questions or a group ride.

Just got word that even though the state snowmobile opener in Wisconsin is set for the 16th. Once again Dane county may open as soon as today. They have begun the process and its slightly lengthy I guess.

I will post more when I know it.

Anyone looking for a ride this weekend PM me. You FIBS shouldnt have to travel far to get a ride in. Trails are kind of flat as they are mostly corn fields and such. I dont know them all to well. Just rode them one time last year in the dark.

here are a few horrible pictures.... the WRX was driven yesterday at 3pm, so all the snow on it has been since then

here is just a pic showing accumilation on my power box....I say 8-10 if Im ambitious later I will go out and measure. Its still snoing very hard, still light small flakes though

When I talked with her Kev it was all cool, she said you'd better have it cleaned and waxed for her though.

Snow's looking good.....

We only got about 4 inches up here. Can't say trails will open soon though. LOL The tractor is still breaking through some wetter areas here.

It must have been a pretty narrow band. We got it good, northside of Madison got it good. South side madison got half of what the north side got.

No idea where it stopped though.

Its warm today, snow is setting up some, but the sun went away.

the weekend sounds like a warm up also, talking freezing rain Saturday. Only in WI can we go below zero to rain in the blink of an eye. LOL

Dane and Jefferson county trails are open. However parts of Jefferson county trails are closed because marsh is not frozen completely.

Snowing now. Light stuff, really fine. Almost like baby powder.

The trails for most have been groomed. Hopefully it filled in soe of the holes and with the warm up locked in some of the soft stuff.

Im out of town for most of the weekend, thought of riding up that area. Will depend on snow conditions I guess.

Your gonna let the groomers get out and set a nice base 1st right??

Some of the best trails I have ridden are in the Lakewood/Townsend WI area.

The have the best trail management I have ever seen.
They will keep the trails closed until they have them all setup and groomed.
Doesn't matter if its after Dec. 15th, they will close them or keep them closed.

We have rode some really nice trails up there when there was only 7-8"
of snow on the ground. We were dumbfounded, couldn't believe it.

The road grade gets beat up good, so they have their snowplowers pile snow in front of the grade at street crossings. they groomer comes trough and puts all that snow on the grade.

We were bitching about the snowplowers blocking the trails until we figured out why they were doing it!

OH, and they are talking by the end of the weekend we could have as much as 2 feet here!!

Yeah now they are talking huge amounts of snow. Most of the trails have been groomed..... just then everything melted. But from the looks it allowed them to fill in the holes.

I will be out when the trails opened. Groomed or not. Because everyone else will, if I sit on my hands and wait for the groomers, everyone else will have them beat up already anyways.

Besides looks like friday the sleds are the safest way to work !

Yep trail goes right past it, until the prison was built it actually went through that land, now it goes around it.

I ride sled to work all the time. Great way to release some stress on the way home. I just wear my uniform under my gear!

Well.... took a little rip last night. Trails were very loose where I saw them. Supposed to get 6 inches last night, looks like about 4 but still snowing. I hope it has a little weight to it.

We were going to ride the sleds to work today, see the trails are still marked closed.

My guess is they will say open when the dude wakes up and sees the snow....LOL

Lots of loose powdery snow...... if your sled is set up for riding like this you will really enjoy it. If your sled is set up for riding groomed hard pack, may not like it as much.

Even where they groomed the snow wasnt very willing to set up. It was cold, hard, and powdery.

Some rough fields yet, but all in all, for December riding. The trails were pretty darn good. I dont expect much ever, so Im rarely disappointed
