10-12 inches of snow doesn't excite me and I am not riding a mountain sled on IL trails.

He didn't say trails, he said around the block, meaning through the neighbors yard, you know, the way Vert does it in the trailer park.

Damn straight..... All summer/fall long I listened to those damn 4-wheelers and Harleys at all times of the day. Now it's my time......... most of these people (ALL construction workers for this project. Power Plant owns the RV park) are from back east or the south, they're too fucking cold to come out and say anything.

Of course, bumping my neighbors LP tank with a ski probably wasn't cool last ride I took, but shit happens, move the tank. Wait, I already did that .....

Seriously, I get enough to keep the skags out of the rocks and let sled run cool, I'm riding it. Can't wait to be done over here or for jobs back around west side of WY to kick off. I'll be home in a heartbeat. Not close enough here for it to be convenient to ride every weekend.

Listen to Cuzzinolaf. Oh 12" of fresh snow is nothing. A foot of snow isn't even worth riding. Blah blah blah. I don't give a shit where you're from, a foot of snow is awesome. A lot of western areas have 30" to 40" of snow. The first real snowfalls started out there in October. 40" of snow after 2 and a half months of snowfall? Tell me about how a foot of snow is meaningless.

And a lot of those areas have gotten twice that amount hit the ground to get the snow they have now.

Yeah I agree 12" only in the mountains isn't that much. But still enough to road ride. Hell lots of areas have got 3' +, but none have got a good, solid base yet so damage is still being done daily.

12" hits the ground around Gillette all at once I'm all over it. Unlike Mr. Prima-donna, I enjoy just riding, doesn't have to be high POW to enjoy.

Plus: right now the heavy snowfalls are straining the fuck out of mountain snowpacks. Hills that nobody recalls sliding are coming loose. Daily more reports are coming in about near-misses or observations. Riding down low seems a pretty good idea until snow stabilizes some and a base of sorts sets up.

Just a thought.

I can ONLY ride the trails here with upsetting Mr. PoPo. Everyone and their mother is out at 6 inches of snow so I know it will be packed down in the matter of an hour. I will not take out my 153" just to beat around for 1 hour of trail riding.

I'm hearing you there, but that still doesn't mean that a foot of snow is anything to scoff at.

Let me stick up for Keith here a little. It is all related to your perspective. If you get 12" of snow in early December after not riding your trail sled for 8 months, it is a big deal. If you just got back from riding 3' of snow last weekend and youhave a 153" mountain sled, it is not a big deal. I have received a couple phone calls from people wanting to know if I am riding this weekend up by Keith and the answer is no for the same reasons he is not. Like I said, same scenario, different perspective. Not trying to be cocky. It is just that 12" of snow just does not get me as excited as it used to. And no, 12" of male apendage does not either so don't even go there ya bunch of homophobes.

You 2 don't ride tracked up snow/trails and we're going to RE in a week. You do realize RE and Steamboat are 2 of the biggest tourist areas in CO for sledders. Expect plenty of tracks and rough trails until we get way back and up high.

As for me, if it snows enough here this weekend, I'll finish burning break-in tank. If no snow comes (likely), I may go to B. Hills or up to Sheridan and ride with the Doo shop locals here.

Yep, been to both before. Know what we are getting into. If snow is fresh, we will be fine. If no new snow, it will be very tracked up. Either way, it will be far better than 6" of beat down snow on northern Illinois corn field trails leading from bar to bar. Never said I had to have fresh powder to be happy but my expectations have been raised over the years. The only down side to owning a mountain sled in the midwest is that your opportunity to ride has been reduced.

My expectations have also been raised over the years. I probably wouldn't drive 5 miles for a foot of snow, but if it is in my yard I am going to violate the hell out of it, make it bleed style LOL.
