Default Apex radar run this weekend....

....well Im going to put the apex to 1000' test this weekend.

I will ride it the 35 minutes to the run and will probably have a full tank of gas in it with my 280lb fat ass strapped to it.

The studs have 2700 miles on them so Im guess they arent what they used to be.

Im hoping it hits 96mph in 1000 feet with me on it.

Anyone want to throw their guess in?

One free beer to the person thats the closest. I realize this forum doesnt get much action - lame attempt to get more people posting in here.

This summer will do a long running thread on the Tar racing the Ape will be doing.

wait, first make sure you stand on the rear of the floor boards and start jumping up and down then nail the gas as hard as you can and pull the handle bars like a totall fricken tool. then as the sled launches keep bouncing up and down like a retard.

or you can sit back, lean forward to get under the windshield, tuck your elbows in to your sides and roll on the gas to let the machine get some traction. take about 50'or less to get to full throttle depending on traction.

Castle Rock Lake - at the Dirty Turtle.

I will post tomorrow when Im through.

I had hoped everyone would offer serious numbers, but I guess thats not possible here.

I think 100 is very possible, just didnt want to post a number then have to come in at 5mph lower.

Of course traction is going to be the key....I ran it one time before and it spun the entire lenght. Just about the time it would hook up, would hit a slight bulge in the course and spin again.

i'm not saying that 100+ isn't possible. just takes some tuning. hence my number (just trying to be realistic..)

but i am eager to hear the results!

I have seen many stock apex's run 104 mph in 1000' with trail studs. but they had a tiny driver on them

it also depends on if they are using a hand held radar or timing system. so yes 105+ mph is very possible. but 94 mph is also very possible.

It ran 94mph bone stock.... with me on it 20lbs heavier.

But with all racing, conditions will play a big factor.

Drop some race fuel, like 110 octane in 'er, and keep the tank to low as possible, Gas is like 7lbs/gallon. Oh yah, some duct tape over your mouth too, don't want wind drag!!! Lets see, 1000 ft, just under a 1/4, Yamaha Apex, Lard A$$, worn studs, my free beer is on 95.3MPH

Putting 110 race fuel in it will slow it down

1000 feet is 320 feet shorter than a 1/4 mile

put only a gallon of gas in it when you race, it makes a difference.

Im going to drive it there.... run it in trail conditions. IM not going to pull 5 gallons of gasoline out.

You all realize I have been racing my entire life right? I know less weight is faster, I know traction is key

As suspected.... traction was very much the limiting factor. I had to abort two runs, got a little squirrely on the top end

Do you think the stock suspension would have been better?
