Default Helmet cam vid from yesterday, Fairfield, Idaho

It's a low quality video from that standpoint because I have an elcheapo helmet cam and don't really know what I'm doing as far as video editing or any thing,
But it was fun.
I rode Fairfield, Idaho area yesterday with a couple friends.
that's the 5,000 elevation area, so snow levels were definately down and it was really set up.
This is a quick compilation of playing on a small and medium sized hill.

You definately need a new cam. That one makes it look so dark out. Idaho looks pretty barren too.

Good to see some people out riding. Go extreme next time SD!

Ya, I know the camera sucks, but it works and is fun.
Where we were is right below the tree line where the desert meets the mountains at about 5,000 feet.
We normally ride over 7,000 and it's much better

Glad to see snow down that low, not sure what is left at home @ 7200'. But above that there's still plenty.

Dang, I'm getting the impression that it's not an epic snow season out there. Too many lingering high pressure systems. Maybe that stabilizes the snowpack though? Get the base nice and solid, and then wait for some huge Feb. and March storms!!? SD, you gonna be at The Expo in West Yellowstone this year?

It has made snowpack much more stabil, don't know how much base there really is up high yet, my last trip there wasn't a lot of base, but there was loads of POW.

We can only hope for those storms in next few weeks.

I will,
but we are supposed to get hit on Mon, Wed, and Fri right in that same area I was in yesterday, so I'm going to hit that again when it's better on Saturday. I have a new person to sleds that will be here from seattle and I can keep an eye on him there pretty easely.
He's been here 3 years in a row now about this same time and has had an issue with getting seperated, lost, in trees, stuck out of site in a hole with a 6 foot culvert, etc. etc.
Should be another 18" to 2' to freshen that right up
It's actually a giant huge play area with steep hills.

We will be riding until mid May or so up high though,
There will be plenty of tree riding videos. That's normally what I do.

Got to love the timber ....... Hoping to get back home next weekend for some ride time. If not, I'll head up to Bighorns Sunday.

200 feet?
Do I look like Dan Gardener to you?
Me either.

The 2nd climb was about 300 verticle feet and really steep. (that was the medium sized hill)
From the top, you could not see the way down. There is definately bigger stuff there that is fun to climb, but you have to remember, once you get up, you need to get back down.
You aren't turning or slowing down much when it's really steep on the hard pack icy stuff, so it becomes a 500 plus pound sled run straight down and trying to turn equals rolling the rest of the way down. Skidding the track makes you get more and more sideways, so you have to let off the brakes and straighten out a few times on the way down, hit the gas to engage the clutches and let the RPMs hold you back a little.
It was just into the bottom of the bowl in the flat, turn right and go straight up the face, right turn at the top and take the ridge down because going back down the face on icy conditions is very fast and a little scary going into something with zero run out like that.
You should come out and try it some time.
You may never go back to a lake again after riding the mountains.

200 ft. drop would probably even make Dan look twice at it. Small drops I'm ok with, the big stuff I'll leave to those with no survival instinct........

Would have been nice to have seen those pulls from bottom as well as helmetcam.

What helmet cam is that so I know what not to get lol? I've looked at a couple on ebay lately and I'm still thinking about it.

No offence taken on that one.
It's the Epic helmet cam and I don't like or recomend it.
