so this saturday there is going to be some up-hill drags at a local ski resort and i think im gonna bring the xc out for a rip. I'm going to have to run trail mod and im waiting on a phone call back to answer some ?? on the length of run and what not.
Temps are supposed to be in the 50's so im trying to figure out how to ge tthis little slut to launch better and run good in the warm weather. i was thiking of taking the airbox out and or moving the needle clips so i dont have to re-jet.
so what ar eyour thaughts, and any other tips, tricks and sugestions.
it isnt really worth chainging anything before you go. after you make a run and get an idea of what is going on then think about changes. i wouldnt bother with jetting other than drop the mains for the day, if you think its going to be 50 degrees, then jet for 50.
other wise drive the sled around and get the pipe good and hot before your run, that way you will have a stronger take off.

I would gear it down. You want quick not top end. If it's going to be 50 degrees I would drop the mains minimum 2 sized and drop your needles. Plus take the airbox off. There will be guys out there that will be setup and if your not you won't be competitive. Definitly gear it down. If you don't they will smoke you out of the hole. You will be pulling on them at the end but it's hard to win by playing catch up. My guess is you have the stock 21/35 gearing which is good for about 116 mph at 9000 RPM. I would get it geared down to about 80 to 85 mph.
They say 700 feet but it will probably be closer to 500 feet. That isn't hardly long enough to hurt you motor. At 50 degrees it will be a fat pig. I wish I was closer I have all the gears and chains you would need. It will still be fun. I ran the drags at Spirit Mountain last year in April and had a blast. Wasn't setup too good but I know what I would do different next time. Won't be this year though.
yeah i hope so, im going to take a small shot in the dark but nothing drastic, infact i may not even move my bars like i wanted to until i see the track. I was watching some vids and there are usually some humpty's in course and i dont think i want to be sitting when i take flight..
so that was a waste of time and money, had the sled running great on the practice hill, warmed it up on the warm up stand, got it to the line had it up to rpm stabed the gas and iot fell flat on its face fouling 2 of 3 plugs... end of day... sweeeet...
anyone have a choke assembly they want to donate?? some how my hood caught it and snapped it off
