Default ATV engine doing weird things.

Well last weekend my sister took her blaster to the drags with us and it quit running toward the end of the day. It would barely start and if you gave it too much gas it would puke out. I tested the compression and got 60 psi so I started teardown to rebuild. I took the silencer off and decided to try it one more time before I pulled everything.
I fogged the airbox with starting fluid figuring it's toast anyways. Well the fucker fired right up and ran awesome. I took it off the trailer and figured I'd try riding it to see how it liked having a load on. All 6 gears are now reverse, which a blaster doesn't have reverse. Think a tranny gear broke or skipped? That's the only thing I can figure out, guess I gotta tear the fucker down after all. I've never gotten into tranny gears and not quite looking forward to it lol.

Ahhh that makes sense. But it's kick start only, since I'm kicking in the right direction it should be rotating the right way?

when you go to kick it the kicker gear only goes for so long before it retracts... so if you have ether or that with a low detonating point it could start and run in reverse if the piston never made TDC before the fuel detonated... happened once on my old 1987 yz125.. that was a lot of fun throwing it into gear and hammering the throttle and end up going backwards...

lmao exactly what I did, dropped shifter into first, rev throttle... pop clutch... backed right into trailer lol.

How did you get it fixed on your bike? Maybe push starting it will work? Every time I start it now it's in reverse.

That would have been funny as hell to see the confused and probably slightly frightened look on your face!
