Default New here, trying to get some information

Hey guys im new here and trying to gain some information. I have never owned or even ridden a sled. I am looking to get into the sport though. I have some friends who are really into the sport and I need something to do in the winter haha. I have a lot of experience riding PWCs and I cant imagine that it is that different riding a snowmobile. I am looking to buy a snowmobile, but I have NO idea what to look for in a sled. I would like to stay around the $1000-$1500 range because I have a PWC I can sell for about $1000, or trade it. Are there any particular sleds I should be looking at or that you would recommend? I would like something more sporty, and not a touring sled. Thanks.

Anything Polaris my friend. There is a major difference between sleeding and pwc's....sleds arent boring.

Here is a good beginners sled at a great price too.

Gotmud and I are in your neighborhood so feel free to come ride with us anytime. Good to have another Michigander aboard.

MSU or UVM?

They both ride polaris, but I have never been a huge fan of polaris. My Uncle has a Arctic Cat ZRT 600 and my cousin has a ZL 500, and I have always liked the Arctic Cats. Being a huge seadoo fan I also like the Ski-doos, but another friend who races Arctic Cat said Skidoos are junk, but that could just be personal opinions. I am just kind of wondering what my options are for that price range. How many miles is too many?

Phil I might be selling one or both of my sleds this year due to financial circumstances. I will let you know asap.

One is a 1998 SkiDoo Formula Z 583 and the other is a 1998 Yamaha Vmax 600 SX.

When I buy a sled I like to buy them under 4k. However a maintained sled will last forever. You just have to know the history. You can buy alot of sled for $1500 bucks.

Arctic Cat is my second choice. What type of riding do you want to do?

I wont NOT buy a polaris, I just have never had interest in them haha.

Cool, if I end up getting a sled I will hit you guys up, I am in Holland. And I really like both teams. I have always been a huge Michigan fan, but Kirk Cousins graduated from my school 3 years ago and I love watching him play again so I like MSU too.

Umm, one of my buddies has a cabin up in Cadillac and apparently there are trails all over the place there so I guess trail riding? I have no idea lol.

If you want trails you would be happy with either of those sleds you mentioned earlier. I would go for the ZRT though.

They are full of it....

It all depends on if the sled has a noisy can or not. I cannot think of a triple that came too loud from the factory. In fact twin owner are usually the noisy ones.

Looks good, worst case scenario you can always pick up another pipe for cheap. Looks clean though.

what about this? It looks like it has quite a bit of miles, but it looks super clean. But does any of those aftermarket parts make it not reliable?
