Default Project PSI (Part II)

Its not dead yet!

I just happened across another PSI top end, and the cylinders on this one actually have ring grooves for the O-rings which is what really pissed me off about my old ones. So, here we go again.

'07 Polaris IQr chassis
PSI 86mm bore ported cylinders
Polaris 68mm stroke 600/700 big block case/crank
HTG Twin pipes

For those that missed the first installment,

Once I get this engine running again, if new heads and rings don't fix its finicky attitude its getting sold and I'll just run 700 cyl's as I had my RMK tuned really good when I sold it.

Carbs I'm not too sure about yet, I like the rack 40's but in the IQr chassis it'd be nice to be able to remove them one at a time.

i don't think you could get big enough jets for the kehin's? thought you ran into that issue last time with the PSI big bore?

Never said I'd be using Keihins, in fact I sold all 4 of them this summer. If I cant find a cheap set of TM40's I might get the TMX's bored

For christ sakes, and you will have to make a custom bench to mount on your sled, to sit next to it and play with the carbs again!! I just sold the HTG twins I had over on SF, done messing with the damn carbs, staying with SLP single and can

If I need to this year I'll toss the 440 back into the chassis to make it to the group ride if I get the time off.

I'm going to mod the chassis to fit the big block now, then put it all back together as a 440 until I gather the rest of the parts to finish the BB conversion.

This project may be evolving, and the 440 will then most likely stay in the IQr for a while longer as I remembered 3 important things. I now have 3 86mm cylinders, 6/700BB cranks are fairly cheap, and a WC case doesn't need to be fly cut for a 68mm stroke.....

Not sure yet, still cant afford one. But I may start collecting parts, so if I collect all the parts needed and get it finished in 2-3 years I should still have a sled with a running WC engine in chassis about a year before timmy

I think I've found a cheaper alternative to getting a PA or UBR head for a WC engine. If I can find some used 1050 heads I'll send them to a machine shop with one of my PSI domes and have them recut. Should cost under $200 compared to $500+ for a new one
