Default Alexandria/Melrose area group ride.

I was just talking to Ultrastud on the phone the other day and he wants to get a group ride going in this area this season. Since Ultra moved right into the epicenter of DCUBA's riding territory, he wants to hang with the cool kids now. I was kind of thinking that if any pansies from the Big City come up to ride, maybe it would be better to base it at Riley's place since it's closer. Mookie laughed at that and said an extra 35 miles to Alex is no big deal. Maybe since Ultra is hot to do this we should have it at his house? I thought I heard something about him having a hot tub? Also, if we had it here it would be closer to Madcow at work, so maybe we could talk him into coming down and riding for a day?

So what do you think Minnesotans? I know we're not a destination snowmobiling area, but we certainly have plenty trails and other riding opportunities around here. How about a little feedback from folks that might be interested in something like this?

I can't say that a trip THAT far would be worth your while, but you're certainly welcome.

If I can rent my summer bosses' sled, that wouldn't be a terribly long trip to make it down there.

I am scared to set food in a hot tub that is in the posession of ultrastud though.

The water's a bit foamy on top. Other than that it's fine.

Tim wants to make it down for a ride there as well. Let us know what weekend we might be in, but unfortunately my weekends are starting to get really full.

I'd probably leave the scheduling up to Ultra, since it's his baby, but I would think that January before the Togwotee trip, or early February after the U.P. group ride would be best. I think Ultra is getting internet sometime soon, so we'll hear from him then.

That all depends if you are currently employed Hogger. But we might make an exception for certain ND folks.

Sign me up. The only date I have filled so far this winter is the weekend of Jan 23. The ride can leave from my place or the Alexandria area. The only bad part about riding Alexandria area is all the hillbillies that think they know how to ride.

Trust me I would love to be unemployed at that time also, you and Rubi need to do some sweet talking and get me on at CSI next spring.

As of right now MLK weekend (Jan 15-18) is booked for me, all other weekends are open.

Riley and Ultrastud what are your plans for this weekend? I'll probably trailer up to Miltona so I have a sled to braap around on when I have spare time at the race. There's a 90% chance of snow tomorrow night, so riding on Friday afternoon might be alright if anyone is around. We got an inch or two of fresh snow while we were gone, and the Hazardous Weather Announcement says that we could get 2-5" in the next couple days. They're calling for snow every day until Sunday night, so I hope conditions get decent again. If anyone else wants to come up here and check out the Leaf Valley Speed Rally and do some riding, speak now, or forever hold your peace. (Is Madcow going to make it? I want to ride with that hoser sometime.)

We have had around 45- 50" of snow in Southern Mn
Plenty of snow here, can go across plowed fields with no problems.

Maybe should plan a ride around here?
We have no fancy woods, mostly fields.

I dont know what the snow cond. are for the very southeast corner of MN, near Caledonia, a lot of nice riding there if they have snow, (pics)
