Default Anyone got a vintage with newer engine?

Anyone got a vintage sled with an upgraded bigger engine in it? I want to see some projects like that, not like professionally done ones for racing, just a project done for the fun of it.

I would really like to do that when i get a chance to. Im sure i will one day, not anytime soon. Prolly a vintage polaris with a liquid cooled twin or triple, doesnt matter. But want a leaf spring one, take it on vintage rides? haha

What would be one of the best vintage Polaris for something like that? One already equipped with coolers would be best but shouldnt be too hard to add some? Maybe the running board coolers would work good/easier than tunnel coolers, prolly not much room under there..

IBS, still got that txl laying around? I wish i had a way of getting that from you. I would love to do something with it, and you know i would put it to some use.

I've toyed with the idea of putting my spare 700 motor into my Nordic along with the Polaris drivetrain. And I would if I had the time to do it.

Here's an old style TX with a 440

I read that you said that somewhere i think, that would be pretty cool. How does it look, everything would seem to fit in that thing? When you say drive train, do you mean the jackshaft, chain case and all, what about the skid?

I'm not sure how well a drive system meant for 30HP would fair when asked to transfer 120+ HP

So if iwere to do this I would put in new clutches and chaincase. (no need for a jackshaft) And I would put in the polaris driveshaft if I were to put an extra-10 under it

If i were to do a swap like that i would prolly keep the original suspension, just to keep it looking stock and all vintage on the outside. I imagine an xtra 10 is gona raise the rear quite a bit on an old sled like that, i think it would make it look weird.

I have thought of doing the same, if Ihad more time.

Depending on the sled, I would stick with a smaller engine, probably a fan.
It would be a lot easier.

leafs have enough problems with carring the weight, plus the rest of the drive train has to be able to handle it.

I wanted to take a engine out of a newer Jag,(79 or so) and put it in a 71 Panther. Just for the reliability alone.

Here's my 70 rt500...slightly modified!
I put a 488 fugi fanner out of an indy trail. Custom exhaust and custom clutch setup...

I used a 503 rotax pipe off a late 80s safari..I had to turn the end 180 degrees...then it goes into a arctic cat can off a 90's z 440..

The clutching is half skiroule and half skidoo...
