Default Newest addition to my vintage collection

Picked this 78 SRX on Thursday in Glenfield, ND (north of Jamestown) on my way to Hay Days. Seems to be in very good original condition, should clean up very nice and shouldnt take too much work, just needs spindle boots and maybe a windshield. I think I got a pretty good deal also.

Yes it has IFS, hence the INDY designation.

You need to keep your eye open for a 77 SRX...they are gold. 98hp and about a hundred lbs less than yours...I think they were about 350lbs with 98hp!

1980 SRX 440 was the Hot!! one. They were light as hell, short, and flat out moved.... I owned one and when it ran it was great sadly that was rarely....

I think the 77 was the hot one. This 78 is pretty damn fast when it ran. Tim bought it from a buddy of mine.

Actually the 80's were the slowest of the bunch and had the least amount of HP.

^^^^^^^^^^^^
He was probably thinking of the TX-L Indy 340.
Now that one is damn quick for a 340.

Nope the Gold and Black 80 SRX 440 with factory pipes and 116" track. They were changed to oil injection which many felt made them not as powerful.

Once it got up on the pipes it was a different animal altogether (at least mine was), it just took off and @ a 9000rpm range it was quick. As I said though I was not happy with it's reliability and cost for 80 SRX parts is outrageous. I sold it for more than I had in it and never missed it. That experience soured me on Yamahas
