Default 7 Tooth Drivers

put a 1.25 inch track on my 90 500 indy last summer. I had about 1/2 inch between the lugs and cooler. today I swapped the 9 tooth for a 7 tooth drive and I now have 2.5" between the drive wheels and the cooler. that put me at 1.25" of track clearance to the cooler.

What are the 7 tooth drivers off of? any issue with strength to power ratio?

Did I miss something? Or is there no question asked?

LOL there off ebay. bought a shaft and 4 wheels, they came off a 95 500 that had been long tracked. 5.5" is the aprox dia of them. By the math with stock gearing my top speed is now 70MPH. there is a little stud damage on the edge if one wheel. With the sharp bend, it looks like you would have to keep any studs off them.
Later to day I will ride it some, new moter brake in so not to rowdy.

first thing I found is the track has to be on the snug side or it will ratchet. new track so it is getting broken in with the engine also

Finley opened it up tonight 68.8mph top speed with the stock 21/39 gear set and stock clutching. GPS, speedo was saying 80ish. If I were to do another I think I would look harder at 8 tooth drives.

7s, 8s & 9s

8s can be found, but not very common.

I have a set of 8's, just haven't had the need to use them on anything yet.

Try monkeying with your front limiter strap, I had 7 tooths installed on mine for a 2" track and it ratcheted till I tightened up my limiter strap a tad. No issues since.
