Default 580 OR 600cc?

Hey guys, have a quick question; have a 1994 Indy XLT SKS with 133.5" track. Originally told by previous owner that it was a 580cc engine but after checking 'polarisman.com', specs say 600cc (597). The 580 is in the standard Indy XLT(121" track)? How can I check for sure?

The 597 wasnt available till 1995.look at the code on the sticker on the pull start housing.....should say ec580xxx or something like that.

rock2324, you were right on the money. sticker says EC580xxxx...this is actually good news, heard that the 580cc engine was very reliable and had plenty of power. also found bro-in-laws 1997 ultra700 is actually 680cc.
thanks for the info.

For anyone that's interested, all Polaris engines have a code. EC = Electronic CDI, next two or three numbers are the CC (34=340 cc, 580=580 cc's), then P (For Polaris I think? Not sure), the T for free air/fan or L for liquid then a - then the series of engine. 01 is the first series, 02 is the second.

So EC580PL-02 would be a CDI 580CC Liquid Cooled Polaris, second series.
