Default 1997 Yamaha VMax 500

As everyone knows, I like to act stupid. Well, I'm going to take a break from acting stupid to ask everyone if I am about to actually do something stupid. Found a '97 VMax 500 for sale at a very reasonable price. It's got a new top end two seasons ago, new rear shocks, and is in decent physical shape. Since I am, at best, a weekend warrior is this thing going to suit my needs? Please share your thoughts on that make with me.

Thank you!

Mookie! Welcome back! And getting a 2-Stroke sled

The Vmax 500's were a little underpowered/overweight. As a weekend warrior - if it's a good deal and gets you on the snow ASAP I'd snag it.

Yamahas -

You don't win races but they start every time. Some people hate the front suspension but overall I like the ride of the pogo-stick front and hefty rear. Very stable-feeling machine. It's almost impossible to carve.

No pogo suspension on this one and I'm not sure what the rear end has in it. And yes, it would get me on the snow since that worthless Formula Z (and my mechanical inability) left me without a braaaper.

My bad. They switched over in 97.

Couldn't help ya then. Sorry. My comments on the engine still hold true.

I have a 1997 vmax 500xt and have only had the clutchs rebuilt and the track replaced once. It has about 5500 km's on it. I would buy another if the price was right.
