Default NY trail money maybe raided also

New York snowmobile clubs could lose 20% of funds

New York state's snowmobile clubs may lose 20% percent of their budgets soon because of a governor's proposal to move $1 million per year from the snowmobile trail fund to the general fund, according to the news organization WYSR-TV-Syracuse.

The snowmobile fund comes directly from snowmobile registration, which was increased to ensure better care of New York trails, according to WYSR-TV-Syracuse.

The current snowmobile trail fund goes toward maintaining equipment, such as groomers. Clubs are concerned that the funds being taken away will affect the ability to keep the trails groomed.

The state's budget office told WYSR-TV-Syracuse that it is allowed 30% of the snowmobile fund to pay for administrative costs associated with trails.

New York State Senator George Maziarz issued on Feb. 24 a release on the snowmobile sweep.

"Through registration fees, it's paid for by snowmobilers, for snowmobilers. Any attempt to dip into this fund to pay for other unrelated thins in the state budget should be stopped dead in its tracks," Maziarz said.

"Snowmobiling is part of the way of life in Upstate New York and it plays a vital role in our economy. The popular pastime should not be subjected to the never-ending games and gimmicks played by the Executive," Maziarz said.

Sorry CW, I wasnt taking about you.!!!!!

I was just thinking about how all these people whine about trails, but dont help, or bitch that money is being taken from there account and wont spend 10 minutes to just tell there reps.... NO.

Second, it's the Gov. .. so just do like the schools do, keep spending more then you have.
If you leave that much money sitting in a account, someone will take it. Tell who ever to start handing that money out for Groomers, purchase some land... just like MN, leaving that money sit is just asking for trouble.

NY sucks......if I didn't live so close to Tug Hill it would be even worse. Minnesota is on top of my list of places to move to. I actually just got hired by a contracting company based out of St. Paul. Should be going to work next week, but not in Minnesota.....some shitty city like Philadelphia I bet.
