I have been working hard and not eating anything but sammiches, I picked up every damn hour I could on the weekend and weekdays so I could afford a sled this summer. I even gave up beer, and scrimped as much as possible (did splurge on one coat that I actually did sorta need beings as the ones I have look pretty used up, and ladies are supposed to look sortof nice when the go prancing around town).
This got me a whopping 575 dollars to put towards a sled.
Just so happens that there really aren't any decent, newer, and light sleds for 575 bucks right now.
Then craigslist gave me this: 2001 CR250 basket case for 575 bucks. Wouldn't you know, the stupid thing is less than ten miles away from me. My dad calls up and says "you should get that." which was fairly astounding beings as he is very unencouraging when it comes to any sort of project relating to toys.
So I bought the bike (280z [the bro] and I went to look at it last night). Now you'll say "Wolfie, you dumb bitch, that doesn't have any sort of skis or a track! What was your tinyassed little self thinking!? Now you're all broke and have no money for a sled at all!"
Well...here's the reasoning behind all this madness. After brief conversation with my dad, he sounded stoked to put the thing back together with me. We looked shit up and down on craigslist and fleabay, and found that beat to shit CR250s sell for 1400-1600 minimum.
1400-1600 will buy me a decent, newer, lightish, sled.
The issue is that my hours went up shortly, but have been cut down to one more day of normal work before the season is done. There is still the late season stuff to be taken care of, so that will scrimp me through till November. If I get hired on by one of the other guys in the company I work for, I might manage to get 40 hours a week through October. However, I have no guarantee of this at all. I should find out within the next week or so.
Had this job continued on into November, I'm pretty sure I would've held off this project, and kept saving. However, I made the 500 dollar surplus in mid may, but haven't been able to add any more than 75 bucks to that stash thanks to student loans and rent payments.
Basketcase means it is in pieces...usually presented to the buyer in a basket or box or some sort of container like that. In my case, the frame is mostly intact, but the engine is in pieces. A few seem to be missing.
You need to find a new job. Your aren't getting paid enough.

I deplore ignorant, self-righteous pricks, who, being children, masquerade as intelligent, knowledgeable adults. A niggerhead is a geological feature of the local terrain, as is an island off the coast of Maine and many varieties of slugs, bryophytes, and angiospermae.

Doesn't look too bad. Is everything there or is it still missing some parts?
I'm going to assume there are still missing parts, but mostly small stuff like bolts and washers. I looked it over and tried to count as best I could, but I don't have the parts list for one of those things memorized...for sure though, a lot needs replacing.
Front wheel, chain adjusters, sprockets (have the rear already), handlebars (have 'em already).
Today I'm going to hit up a couple dealers to see if they have any junk boxes I can raid (unlikely but I'm hopeful).
