Default Dragon down!!

Went out for a ride with Ryan we maybe got 15 miles in before the dragon blew up......FUCK!!!!!!fucking snow was deep and I got stuck quite a few times, when I finally caught up to Ryan the hood was up and the motor seized.....needless to say we are probably out for Feb.!

One plug was cardboard brown and the other a little rich, kinda black. wont know what happened till we take it apart! FUCK,FUCK,FUCK!

I don't think it was snow ingestion.....looks like a lean condition to me.

Bores are in good shape. I'll bet if you split the cases you'll find a puked rod or bearing.

Snow ingestion. A LOT.

***It's a needle cage bearing. Either end, not 100% sure yet.

It's just premature part failure.

its hard to tell by the pic, is the exhaust side of the piston melted or eroded to where you can see the ring?

lots of parts ontop of the piston with very little bit of piston chunks missing. possible bad rod?
you will definatly know more with the jug off,

if you have to send the jug in let me know, i can usually save a big chunk of change!? normally close to 50$ a cylinder in savings. sometimes less sometimes more.

Rock, call up Jon(^^^that guy 2 posts up) and see if he can check the crank for you or who he'd recommend to check runout. If the small hole you noticed is on the exhaust side, towards the top, its a VES/decomp hole, supposed to be there. Order some SPI pistons(Jon may be able to hook you up there too) and if needed send the cylinders out to get reniced. you'll be all back together in no time.

And the pics re-enforce the snow ingestion idea.

snow ingestion would be all intake side of the piston/cylinder scoring and damage.

with any top end damage like that, if it turns out to be a top end issue, i would send the crank out to a guy in cambridge mn. very inexspensive and resonably fast. battlestorm has his info. i do simple rod inspections and phase. but i like to let a proffesional do a real inspection.

probably run polaris or wiseco pistons over the spi in a newer sled. just know what piston you are using before you have the cylinders rechromed, if one cylinder is in great shape, then i would go oem for the other.

turn around time is about 2 weeks on a cylinder. but millenium has an exhange program, i could have a new cylinder to your house probably about the same time your check got to me?!

if i had both cylinders we could do a cheap fast port cleanup, like what a hand built factory setup would do.

I looked at the pics, black spark plug and a clean/pitted piston top like that is a sure indication of water/snow ingestion.

Starting to think it was either a bad bearing or bad crank seal.
