I wish I had a good digital camera, took that pic on my Moto-U9.
Wolfess, yup it is peaceful. And yes, if I make a big mistake, I am somewhat fooked. I got started late so with the sun on the way down had to leave the other five or six trees I saw that were good to cut. But, my sled is 12 feet long and that one tree provided quite a bit of wood. I do this for my MIL so she has wood for the steambath. She loves me.
Zeezle, yeah 'bout time I got out and started doing something. Since my new job is guarding inmates I work week-on, week-off, and the past few times it is too warm to go out, or I was sick!! Which blows completely. But I am getting ready to get out and get some more.
I carry a full kit of safety goodies in case I cut my leg with the saw and have a Glock in my pocket. I also carry a flare gun in the cooler (grub-box up here), with flares to attract attention.
The tree-line depends on where I go. If I want to get to the Kilbuck Mountains, it is about 35-40 miles. But I can also drive the 17-18 miles north of Bethel and there they are. Have to be careful not to be on Native corporation owned lands. They get a little upset about non-corp members cutting wood on their land, i.e, they'll take the wood off your sled if they catch you.

I deplore ignorant, self-righteous pricks, who, being children, masquerade as intelligent, knowledgeable adults. A niggerhead is a geological feature of the local terrain, as is an island off the coast of Maine and many varieties of slugs, bryophytes, and angiospermae.
