Default 1994 Polaris storm 800 Mod clutching

i have a polaris storm that has lots of mods done to it, with one acception, no clutch work that i have done. i would like to make this a little jumpier off the line but dont really want to play with the gearing. are there any good clutch kits out there. or are there any setups that you would recommend. the clutch that is on it now has a white spring in it, havent looked at the weights. and have not taken the secondary off either.

thank you

What mods? If your running a modified engine on the stock clutching then your not even using the full potential of the engine. What pipes are you using?

at 5700 that should be a good rpm, i would look at the secondary and see what you have for a helix and spring, open the chain case and see what you have for a helix and spring.

HAHA, well it has a light blue secondary in the 4th postiton and the stock helix, and i don't have my service manual near me to look up the numbers but i know it has the stock gearing (real fast!). i kind of want to drop the engagement rpm because it gets ridden on the trails. if i keep the 10MB weights in it and put a light blue in the primary where about will the engagement be?

stock helix sucks, stock gearing sucks,

gear to something like 21-37

helix i really like as big as you can pull, like a 52-34 or 50-36. use a polairs blue orange or silver blue secondary spring, or something close to them, 130 or 140 on the engagement rate of the primary spring and a 310 or higher finish rate. then dial in rpms with weight.

do you think i will have any problems with the primary (ramping up) slowly.
i dont want to have it wide open just do go at least 60.

with the 10MB weights (47.5g??)

nope,
if you are doing wide open throttle at 60 mph then your secondary is way off.

me to.

the primary is going to close.

you will have to pay attention and smell for clutch slippage and see how hot clutches get. you might end up trying several sets of primary weights and or springs to get the primary perfect.

rpms stay where you want them at wide open throttle, there is no belt smoke or slippage, the clutchs arent burning hot and the sled just rocks.

Put in 62's with the almond gold and it engages at about 4500 and I love it. Pulls harder now too
