2 bad base gaskets. Wish I had learned there are rubber coated steel one available before I had a mishap. If I can find them, that is. Have not had a chance to call crankshop. Other ideas of places to call? Indy Dan is not to far away, but that might cost a lot if i start talking to him. ;)

Looking at an 800 Storm with 4000 miles.I'm not sure of the year but has the wedge style body, '95 maybe It is very clean with the 10" skid and fox shocks all around. Also has an exhaust temp gauge for some reason. Only issue is low psi on the rewind side cylinder, thinking maybe the ring or a hole in the piston. The guy wants $600 for it. Im willing to buy it just for the condition of the sled. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Chrome cyl. If it is scratched you have to replace. If he put a temp gauge on he was playing with jets. Shine a light down all holes and check for burnt domes!

Default Good To Go

Well I ordered a new cylinder for the sled, $205, ring and piston kit $130!!! Apparently there was an update later in '94 as mine were still the steel sleeve and not nikasil in which they were trying to sell me and said that it was the only stock cast that they had, but would not fit because the skirts were too long. Sooooo... I ordered a used cyl, $120 cheaper, honed it out and put a new piston and ring kit, gaskets and back together it went. Bumped the jets back one closer to stock and seems to be running great so far. Actually a bit scary fast compared to my 700 SKS, I like it. Going to take a bit to get used to the trail ability, or lack there of but I don't care its fast!!!

Thanks Blue, The guy actually was messing with the jetting, trying to get everything he could out of it. Apparently he was hanging with the newer Nytros last year (dragging on the lake).

He should be beating the Nytros. Mine was stock and could.

Glad everything worked out, they are fast!

I think he may have been, and I'm pretty sure he was talking about the Nytros. All I remember him say was "FAST" and I was sold. hahaha Now I'm just trying to figure out how to lose a lil weight and any cosmetic mods etc. for it. Haven't had too much success finding aftermarket parts out there.

I would gear it down a touch. I like what it did to mine.

You do not need the top end it is capable of. Check ( remove cover and count teeth) or ask if it is reared down. What color springs are in your clutch's? I do not have answere for good spring combinations, but we can tell if they are stock. Your way better off with a great launch.

One of the fastest weight loss for those is an aftermarket exhaust. Gain a few ponies and lose at least 10#.
