Default The official Angry Dragon build thread

It's time to start putting up pictures of the Angry Dragon build.
I've been colecting parts to make it all work.
It's going to be an Ultra based triple into my 2007 RMK Dragon.

Got the motor plate from Brad at Power Addiction.
Got an Ultra motor that will get the big bore treatment later, It's going in with stock bore for now to be able to make it a running sled in time for the season.
PSI Modblaster pipes are here and will be cut up and re-welded to fit the Dragon chassis.
Clutch that will fit the crank taper on this motor should be here about Monday.
From here it will go pretty fast to become a running sled again.

More pictures to follow very soon.

Just curious, why didnt you decide to just put the 800 on the top? Did you already have the motor?

Also do anything special to the motor?

Ya Powersledder, I remember.
It took longer to come up with all of the parts to do it than I wanted.
I do have almost everything in hand as of now though and I have Sundays and Tuesdays basically free to work on it.
It will go MUCH faster now.
So I'll say it with confidence. More pics to follow SOON.

OCR, I'm leaning towards that HTG 1080 kit.
I'm not 100% certain on that kit in particular though.

No shit, I was thinking there would be one of them fancy hair dryers on an old heavy triple too?

Where do you get that from, it's not a 4 stroke engine!

Even as a 680 triple just clutched and jetted with the PSI pipes it's better than a stock 800 twin.

Is it going to be difficult to adapt a triple's powerband for powder riding? Just seems like a triple is for racing or point-and-shoot chute climbing. Will it be appropriate for the subtle control you need for deep snow riding in a mountain environment?

According to Olaf, there is no middle. On or off for throttle.

Maybe Olaf should go trip?

Keep in mind all those Yamaha Mt Max sleds with the triple 700 engines.
Any engine can do the job if clutched and geared correctly.

Exactly OCR.
It's all in the set up.
I rode a wedge Ultra 151 mod sled for years in the mountains and absolutely loved it.

My primary clutch showed up yesterday, have the motor plate, pipes, electronic tack, and a whole mess of smaller parts, so assembly into chassis starts Sunday
