Default Attention Gerbil!

Remind me to cheese my effin brains out tomorrow before we leave for The Big City. No way you're talking me into buying a pickup for $37K if I don't get paid this week!

I had a 2010 F150 Lariat for work for a couple months and it was an awesome pickup. Way better for towing than my piece of shit 2007 3/4 ton Duramax. Beautiful interior also. Extremely quiet and comfortable. So nice I'm going to buy one.

I drive an '11 F150 now and it is probably the nicest truck I have owned. Number one selling truck (and I believe vehicle) for a reason.

Now I'm embarrassed because I'd like to use someone's real name to discuss serious stuff like pickup purchases, but it ain't gonna happen. I'm just a person that can only remember nicknames, or just prefer to use nicknames because they are more meaningful to me.

So, that being said, Fagsex please PM me your number. I would like to discuss your Ecoboost after you've had a little more experience with it. In the pickups I'm looking at, I'll have to pay a premium to get the Ecoboost, and I want to know if it's really worth it. Right now I'm leaning against it.

No - I said "She's a girl, so nobody WOULD listen to her." Not sure if that's better.

Says the dude that lives really close to a gigantic assed statue of the Hulk, complete with 3 foot wide black mustache.

I've driven the 08, 09, 10, and 11 regular F150s...Deluxe edition, bronze edition work truck edition. I was really frustrated with all of them. It didn't seem to matter whether I was pulling an empty single place trailer down the road, or driving through nice firm dry stubble field. The bastards overheated, and continued to do so all fall into November!

I loved how quiet they were, and how smooth they drove on all the roads. But through any sort of field, or under any work load at all, they really sucked.

That being said, my boss and I picked up a '12 Ecoboost this spring, and it is the tits. Some of the guys that work for my company have been beating the piss out of them since the day they were on the market, and haven't had any issues so far.

Depending on distance/travel type, we got an average of 16mpg with a Yamaha Grizzly in the pickup, pulling a CanAm Commander (which is a heavy mother fucker) No overheating, still plenty of get up and go (if need be) on the interstate with trailer in tow...

If you plan on hauling tons of shit every day, I'd throw in some airbags.

They handle like a Caddy...no complaints there.

I am just frustrated with the F150 V8s I've driven, as is the entire company I work for during the majority of the year.

If everything goes as planned I plan on going to pick up a new Limited Eco on Sat. For good mileage make sure to get the 3:55 gears. The 3:73s don't get that great of mileage.

You just got your silverado Poser, I'm curious why you would make a statement like that?

I've been to back and forth to the dealer 6 times this summer for random faults. Door locks, valve covers, O2 sensors, stabilitrac sensor and more.

But I've also had buyers remorse since day 1 because I bought a truck with only a 5.75 ft bed. You can get a Ford super crew with a 6.5, it's a good truck but i think i'll be wanting something else in a few years.

Power, don't get me started about shortbox pickups. Just ask Mookie. The other day when I was at his place I basically hassled him endlessly about two things: buying a sled, and how worthless his 5.5 foot bed is. I mean, how the hell are you supposed to go buy a sled when all that fits in the back of your pickup is a briefcase?

Wolfie, I find it really hard to believe that all V8 Fords overheat. At the end of the season, I opened my hood and there was a whole round bale worth of grass, soybean leaves, and cornstalks jammed under the hood of my 5.4. To top it off, most of the leaves were glued to the radiator with tack, asphalt, and mud. The temp needle never wavered from proper running temperature even when pulling loads that were considerably heavier than the pickup's rating. I'm kind of curious why you need airbags too? I pulled some stupid stuff with that pickup and it never felt as squirrely as my '07 3/4 ton from another manufacturer. Braking was scary at times while overloaded. That little half ton isn't as bulky as a 3/4 and a big trailer made me its bitch a few times.

Poser, you must have gotten a lemon. My 2007 GMC was awesome. My favorite vehicle I ever owned by a landslide. How many miles on your Silverado?

I put bags on my current F150 thinking I would need them towing a 29' trailer that ways full somewhere around 7000 - 7500 lbs. I don't need them and have never put more than 15 lbs in them (the minimum).

Wolfy, question for you. If your employer was having issues with the F150, why did they keep buying them?

If my little Ranger can handle a trailer loaded with 3 ton of stone, then I see no reason that even the cheapest build F 150 can not handle anything you can throw at it.
You should see some of the guys coming into the yard at work. They already have half the bed or better filled with tools and junk and are wanting a 1.5 to 2 ton pallet of wall stone put on there too.
Not a one who has a Chevy or Dodge will even attempt that unless it's a 3/4 ton or better.

Rubi- what's the latest on your truck acquisition scheme? I was getting some good second-hand stoke which led to some awesome garage entertainment system upgrades. But since I haven't heard anything, my progress on the surround sound has ground to a halt.

Well, I sprang into action yesterday getting the Contour ready for a serious trip to Missouri. I tore that bitch apart, lost a bunch of parts, couldn't figure out where to hook up a bunch of wires and hoses, but did manage to successfully install a new fuel pressure regulator this morning. When I fired it up, it chugged, smoked, roared, missed, died, and almost shook the motor off the mounts. Then the computer got its shit together and figured out how to make the engine run with functioning parts. Now, it purrs like a kitten! Check engine light went off for the first time in about 50,000 miles. I got a new heater fan put in, and fixed some lights that I get pulled over for constantly, and now I'm just about to call the Schaeffer guy for some oil because I think the Contour earned itself an oil change. I've neglected to do that for about 15K miles because I didn't think she deserved it until now.

The pickup saga continues. It sure is hard to find a pickup that isn't ultra-gay in multiple departments. I get all stoked and then find out it's a shortbox, or it has an aftermarket hood that looks like a bearded dragon, or some douche put a liftkit and oversized tires on it. Maybe it has an obnoxious exhaust to really sour the deal. There's only 4 pickups in North America right now that I actually like.

About a week ago I was pretty pumped to get an Ecoboost. I actually found a few deals that I was ready to jump on. One in Arizona was real nice, and I could have flown down and chilled with Ill Bill for awhile and checked out the Grand Canyon and shit, but I'm not an Ecoboost fan anymore. It would be awesome to utterly destroy the Toyota boys on my crew in a race, or hook up to a bellydump and haul mix, but really for me that motor is overkill. It's like riding a 174" mountain mod on the dikes in Grand Forks. I don't like the idea of having two turbos to break, and god knows what it would cost to fix something in the fuel system with that direct injection. The motor that I want is the 5.0 liter. Too bad I haven't really found anything I like or is affordable with that powerplant. One caught my eye a little, but it was in New York.

So where I sit right now is a triple-pronged assault on the pickup market starting in Forada, possibly hitting Cambridge, and then heading to the Ozarks. My checking account looks bleak, so I'm going to see if anyone in town is dumb enough to give an unemployed mainliner a bunch of money to buy a pickup he doesn't need. Then I'll probably take the Contour on a speed run down to Forada and see if that guy will give me a deal I can't refuse on a pickup I don't really want. Then if the place in Cambridge is still open I might stop there on the way to your Big City residence. So... eta is sometime next week! No, maybe not. Possibly at a reasonable time after dark tonight. Maybe we'll just come down and saw some mahogany, glue some boards together, and get you and Mack WASTED again. Maybe I'll just say piss on buying a damn pickup and blow my money on staying at Targhee for 3 months. It's getting DEEP out there!

It was one of those "the issue was fixed" things...only to find out that the issue was not fixed.

Maybe myboss and I are just sissies, but we were both kinda motion sick if the roads were even remotely shitty. This with the grizzley 700 in the pickup, and the side x side on the trailer behind.

I think it is important to point out that the Nutz community gets ultra stoked about capital improvements, but can't resist the opportunity to criticize the hem in a follow Nut's skirt. With that:

Looks like ol' Rubi managed to buy a truck with the smallest bed allowed by law while still being called a truck. I'm guessing the bed at 4.5 feet. Slightly below briefcase capacity. Having said that, it does have Bose surround sound, nav, leather, heated and cooled rectal dildos (driver and passenger), and extra purse storage. Mission accomplished!
