Fuckin Shitballs! Now you found out why I haven't been riding. It's not becuase it was 60 here and we have no snow, but becuase I gave it a bath!

Did you find that sled like that or did you find the pics somehwere? I hope that guy ties something to that sled so he can find it when it thaws... or busts out the chainsaw and attempts a midwinter removal.

Actually, a couple of my friends found it last weekend and asked me how I'd go about getting it out of the ice. I said, "Chainsaw, axe, tow strap, and a lot of work."

We went riding on Friday and they showed me where it was. I was able to recover the registration from under the handlebar pad and turned it in to the local DNR. The sled is about 8 to 10 feet from the shore line of Clear Lake, IA along the south shore... right where sleds normally travel. I figured that the DNR needs to get it taken care of before someone hits it and hurts/kills themselves.

I feel really bad for the owner. 842 miles and from the parts of the sled I can see, it looks in almost mint condition. It's buried right in an ice heave so the ice is shifting and buckling... that sled is going to be crushed if they don't get it out soon. It's already getting damaged.

There haven't been any reports of missing sledders, so I can only assume that they owner got out of it with his life. However, I have to wonder if it wasn't a stolen sled. If it were mine, I would have had it out of there ASAP... before it froze solid like that.

My friends found it last weekend at the end of your 40 warm up so it's been there at least a week. I wonder if someone stole the sled, sunk it in some slush, and just left it for dead. If it was stolen, I hope when they pull it out of the ice they find the thief under it!

Actually, the plane went down outside of town a couple miles. Just on the north east side of the airport. They have a memorial site out there at the site. Never seen it, but heard about it.

The sled is out of the ice. I was just there yesterday. They've removed the sled and put up their own markings now... wooden stakes and yellow caution tape.

As for what happened to it after they got it out... I have no clue.
