Default SW Michigan trail report

Well we got pounded with snow over the weekend. Lake effect snow is weird though, it all depends on where the snow bands are. I live in bloomingdale and we got about 18" over the whole weekend. I traveled yesterday north of allegan and back. Gobles area probably had 12" of snow as well as allegan probably had the same. Between gobles and allegan there wasn't much snow, alot of snirt and grass showing on trail. Between gobles and allegan when the trail went through corn fields it was a rough ride!!
I was very happy when I got off the kalhaven trail to head home and found more snow in my neck of the woods than anywhere else I'd been. I pounded the ditches and rode 3-4' snow drifts most of the way home. We're forcast for more snow this week and next weekend should be the best conditions we've had this year. If johndee is right we may have more than 2' of snow next weekend!!:p
You guys were talking about a mini ride in sw mich, conditions are perfect for such a ride!:p

Good deal, looks like you have more heading east to you if it holds together. We've got a good storm going on now, should be headed to ya.

I saw that yesterday... I never heard of "Snow Squalls" until then. I had to google it to figure out what they were. I was kinda pumped when I saw it.

XCR gets started tonight...

We get squalls quite a bit with lake effect. We probably got 3-4" last night. Took me 2 hours to plow this morning and there is already another inch over what I plowed. Snowing very hard, has been all morning.

LES totals in western lower MI will be in the 6-12" range as well, with some locales in SWL MI seeing over 12" fall by Thursday morning.

XCR is ready to go.

XLT: Last night I got the trailing arm mount on, radius rod installed, heated shield plug on, carbs balanced. I just need to button up the belly, install the trailing arm bolt (I didn't have any washers), put the airbox back on, and put the hood on and it's done. Woot.

I'll be there. It's a question of whether I'm coming up Saturday, and just riding sat. or if I'll do part of sunday too... or I may just come up sunday.

I won't be able to ride until 3pm on saturday. I could take my son and drop him off at his moms work at 3 too lol. I already told her I'm riding sunday so she'll be taking the kids to a movie lol.

Where are you going to trailer to? You could trailer to my house and we could head out from here, I have a trail to the trail systems. Plus we could do some back country riding in MY playground.

You ride a twin, that lil chainsaw engine can keep up fine.

How old is he? I ride like a sally anyways.

He is 5 and not riding his kitty on the trails. He'd rather ride the dragon anyways. And I'm sure he'll be the first to tell someone our dragons faster lol.

I kid I kid. Next year I'll let 'em borrow the TXL! Riding a sled older than him!

I'm fine putting around, checking it out. I need to take it easy on the XCR to make sure it's all in order anyways.

Did you know that a 1981 TXL-Indy ski and ski-leg will fit perfectly into a 1995 XLT-SP Xtra-12 trailing arm? Saved me some time! Only difference is the way the carbide mounts on the bottom - the TXL ski has the single stud in the middle, and I didn't have a bit big enough to drill new holes. I have a carbide on one ski, and a regular wearbar on the TXL ski. I figure I'll be OK for the weekend. It's surprising that I could get the old carbide off without destroying it too!

If your not a speed demon then shit yeah I'll take Shane with us. He'd love to go anyways. I just don't like taking him when I know I'm gonna be flying. I took him out ditchbanging some snowdrifts the other night and he LOVED IT! I could hear him wooting lol, I had to stop and make sure he was ok. He was like yea dad lets do that again lol. We tore the road up and went home for dinner lol.

Rich I'm out to have a good time. I've said it several times - I don't treat the trail as a snow-x track. I don't care if we go 5 the whole time.

Last thing we need is me and my sled (that's over 1500lbs) barrelling down a trail at 85.

We've got about 5" of new snow since sundays melt down. We managed to keep about 3" of our snow that melted which makes for a nice bottom base. Snow is blowing pretty bad but we're close to 10" in most places. Check out this forcast bryan....

Dude if you wanna ride this weekend conditions are gonna be near perfect. I put on about 15 miles tonight all in the woods and there is alot of snow. I got stuck once and tested the durability of my windshield too. Was an awesome ride and I only came home because I needed gas lol. I can't ride tomorrow but will be back out as much as I can this weekend.:p
