need help please, 1997 chaincase with reverse on a Polaris triple 680, reverse gear teeth broke, can I take the gear right out and clean the case good and put it back together and run it out of the woods, the gasket let go, can I use silicone on the case, and what can I use fore gear oil, no dealer close, 2 hrs away need to get it out of the woods, thanks joe
Kind of needs the gear to move? If your bearings are shot they are also the seal, they aren't expensive either. Replace the bearings after you get it home. You make it sound like its out in the snow somewhere and you need to get it home. Tighten the chain and get it home, take it apart and assess the situation. If your bearings are shot there is NO getting around replacement.
