Default Practical, but not so smart

I'm gonna go and hop on the Practical and Smart Bandwagon!

Think I have a few buyers lined up for the IQr, so it's gonna head down the road. That was going to free up some funds to drop a 685 into the RMK or sell that too so I could get into an IQ Assault. But I just don't have the time and money to go on sled trips as often as I'd like I would like to. And I have access to an RS Rage I can pound on for riding around whatever shitty snow we get here. So I think the RMK is going to get bolted back together with a stock 600, maybe some pipes if I can find a cheap set at haydays though.

That was the practical move, now the not so smart part....extra play money means I can upgrade from the '78 XS750 to something newer and fuel injected. Thinking a used Vulcan 900 Custom, something light(ish) but still capable of moderate length trips. Any of you guys know someone that has one? I know it won't take long for me to want something bigger, but I think this would be a good step to figure out if I even want a cruiser style bike before I get too deep into my wallet?

I don't like the 'smart & practical' thing lol. Bikes are definitely smart and practical now-a-days with gas prices though.

Save some money and get a CX or CL to restore!

I have the XS to restore.

And after seeing Rich and Rubi ride their Pro's and reading Gerb's review, I think waiting until I can jump up to one of those is going to be the better option, sledwise, anyway.

My Assault could be had, for the right offer.

What's your deal on the Rage? Have an 05 with 6,000+ miles I might need to sell?

The Rage belongs to a friend. Not for sale, and I'm definitely not looking to buy one. Just something I can use to ride around here if I want.

Pro is the only chassis I've liked as much as an IQr, so I think I'll wait it out for one of those. Besides that, any IQ would have to have the 09+ plastics and a steel bumper.

My mouth is always bigger than my actions, but what are you getting at?

I'm sure my tune will change next winter when I want to go riding on something newer, but wedding plans will keep that money locked up. (That's why I'm buying a newer bike now)
