I thought only outdated underpowered overweight triples, IE, the XLT had PTO crank problems?

Some have crank issues and some don't. I know a guy with an '02 800 RMK that has no crank issues. If your worried it won't cost too much to send out the crank to SLP for the tough boy kit

I'd be worried about it every second I'd be riding!!
A guy on the other site had his let go with 750 miles on it.
And NO it wasn't a mountain sled.

Bryan you want a long track dude. If you were to get another sled get what you want. You'll end up longtracking anyways so your saving money. I did a search and found this.... http://tomsservicecenter.com/showcas...ID=9781&Used=1, Is that what your thinking about?? I looked at those last year and thought about it. Like Ace said, I'd think about it all the time.

^^That sled is not worth $3,000. Probably not even $2200. Ok, if you're lookin at an 800 with over 3,000 miles. Then I'd be worried about the crank

you can find RMK's for 2500, same year lower miles

The one I found was local, and they wanted 2995 for it.

So the entire EDGE lineup is GONE. Great. I can't afford an IQ and a Gen2 is a step sideways.

Get an rmk 700 in the edge, or the 144" switchbacks, they were edge. Those 700s are tried and true, ask mx or powersledder.

Isn't the 700 the same as the 800 but different sleeves?

I may just get it to make it to the ride and throught the year. $300 isn't bad for the toughboy kit.

136's are not easy to find around here, and a 144 would be like Hog trying to find snow to ride in.

Find me a damn edge 700/800 RMK or one that's extended already and I'll buy it.

I've got a relatively stock internally 2002 RMK 800 w/2800 +/- miles on it and had no problems at all with it. By the same token, my 2003 Vertical Escape 800 had less then 2000 when it let go. Granted it was modded in & out, but it's basically a paper weight now. Strange thing is it ran like a champ right up t letting go. Everything I can find on the 800's is leading me to believe it's all in the initial setup. Hopefully my new motor will fall into that good catagory.....

I'll sell you my 2001 800 RMK. I'll deliver it to Mass City too. The 151 should be great for ditch banging in Illinois when you get home.

I wouldnt pass up the sled just because of crank bearings. you would absolutely love the ride. and what if the motor makes it a couple seasons before it goes!! or maybe one day? every used sled is going to give out at some time. when the motor takes a crap, buy another 800 twin, weld them together for a 1200 triple and now you have something!!

That's really what I'm starting to think. No matter what sled I get, someone is going to have an opinion, or a "my brother's shit blew up". This isn't the old triple-500 and indy-650 days when you'd put 6k on it and do a topend. Never heard of crank bearings on the old old shit.

Buy it, ride it for the remainder season, tough boy it in the spring for $295 or whatever and have no worries.

That's a step backwards... I don't wanna go any older. Plus the Edge makes a great platform for a triple transplant IF I need more power.

At this point I have extra bolts, and an extra mount too... you need one
