If you're so damn close to me, why don't we ever hit up Southwest Lower MI together? Grab GotMud and have a blast!

I'm just outside Chicago, western suburbs.

GotMud is in the Grand Rapids area.

West Chicago is not far, but the traffic sucks to get here.

Perfect.

Where I go in SW Michigan is probably less than an hour away from you. Lake-effect.

Yeah, we go there too. And South Bend has 2 sets of trails that lead up that way. We get a lot of lake effect usually, but Berrien county in Mi. was the best in the area last year. We rode in so much snow there last year I actually got to try carving.

I was in Allegan County a lot, they got dumped on a few times.

My family has a place in Cass County, northern part next to Van Buren. That's nice riding up there.

My first time carving as well - on my XCR-700 this past season.

Definately need to meet up.

Bulldog_shotgun wants to do a small 3-day weekend SledNutZ ride in SW Michigan as well.
I'm gonna send GotMud a PM.

Thanks for the link bryan, never been here before lol. Hell yeah SW mich has some killer lake effect and all are more than welcome to my backyard! Last year I think we had more snow than most others lol. And since you guys already mentioned it, yep I learned to carve last year too.

gotmud, a group of us went to Allegen a couple yrs ago and they plowed the roads including that long bridge. We all wasted our skags on that bridge alone, so if you have a better area to go, etc. We'd love to hear about it. My friends refuse to go back there for that reason only. (got to be the worst sentence structure ever)

Thats the first I've heard anyone complain about the trail in allegan. I've never ridden the trail up to allegan. I live about 2 miles south of the kalhaven trail in gobles. I normally ride the kalhaven trail and head south as far as decatur. I don't really travel too far from home lol. I can ride all day and not be further than 10 miles from home.
This year I do plan to take the trail north because sooo many people ask me about it. I finally found a riding partner that lives close to me, and he says he loves the trail north to allegan.

You and me both, GotMud. Allegan has always been really nice for me.

Kalhaven is that super-highway like trail, right? Looks like it used to be a set of railroad tracks.

Bulldog has a thread going in the group rides - maybe we should switch to over there.

Yes actually the kalhaven trail was railroad tracks when I was a kid lol. It goes from kalamazoo to south haven, when groomed is an awesome trail. When not groomed I'd rather bang the ditches.

I live in Lawton, which is not far from Gotmud's area. The trail here is two blocks from my house. We can ride all of the way up to Gun Lake or all of the way down to the Indiana border. I find the Kal-Haven trail to be the most boring ride and the biggest speed trap around. I will only use it to get somewhere else. I put a thousand miles on my sled last February as January for the most part was crap here and didn't trailer it once after the snow fell. Before that we went up to Eagle River for the derby. The frozen lakes were SUPERB!
